Has anyone been to San Luis Pass since Ike? Wondering if you can camp and fish by the bridge on the Galveston side? Was going to PINS this weekend but the red tide canceled that trip.

don't know about the camping, but fished there a few months ago and it was real ruff going to the pass, it's been cleaned up pretty well

also you can do some good wade & kayak fishing on the galveston side of the pass (on the backside towards the neighborhood)

you might check over on TexasKayakFisherman.com

Three weeks ago, the campground at the pass was still not open. People were driving down to the pass and Gulf on the Galveston side of the toll bridge but I did not try it as I do not have four wheel drive. Talked to one guy who said you do not need four wheel drive to get into the area but I am by nature a coward when it comes to getting stuck. I have heard so many stories from the TKF guys about the scum bags that hang around those beaches that I am leary about camping on the beach. But I guess I am just a wuss! Several people were fishing the Surf Side area of the pass by driving into the campground area where the parking use to be and then driving over to the flat next to the pass.
Hope this helps.
