|
|
| last fall i bought a mako 17.5'er and abandoned surf/bay fishing in favor of choke canyon. however, in late july - september in years past i usually head out to the port a jetties and destroy trout, reds, and we have even have hooked (only landed 1) 10 tarpon. i want to take my boat out there and basically bass fish the jetties trolling along and pitching into the rocks for trouts and reds and actually try to land some tarpon by not having to reel them into the rocks. my problem is i have no idea where to launch my boat. looking it up online it looks like you have to call and make a reservation at the boat ramps? is that true, or are there public ramps you can launch from and park? thanks for info. |

You need to check out the city marina in Port A. It's free and there's plenty of room to park. _________________ “Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. Comes into us at midnight very clean. | Be sure that you fish the outside of the channel as if you drift and fish the inside you will be asked to leave by either Harbor Patrol or USCG |

I believe it's in the HARBOR that is a nono...I've only been able to fish from a docked boat _________________ No matter where you go, there you are.... |

You can fish the channel, just stay near the rocks; ie away from the ships, but if you are targeting tarpon, start out at the mouth of the jettys and fish the end of each(north and south) and out. I don't think it is illegal to fish the harbor but not a good place to fish. The ramps are free and plenty of parking.
Welcome to Port A
