Mike McBride, AKA McTrout. He's a guide in Port Mansfield. Over on 2CoolFishing they have a benefit going with donated fishing trips, etc. to help defer his medical expenses.

Mike's a great guy and I wish him a speedy recovery.

looks pretty bad.. going to be a few months before he can walk well..
hopefully it heals quicker than others that have had similar injuries.
i wear my reef boots.. but i still feel that they only protect the bottom of my feet from sharp objects.. even if i bought the shin guards.. still do the two step shuffle.. i have had a ray or two whip me but think that was it turning away and the tail slapped me..
more prayers for another angler for a speedy recovery

OMG. Wow, that bites.

The tissue damage is significant. Will never be the same. There will probably be some muscle and nerve damage as well.

Hope Capt. Mike heals quick!

Shuffle shuffle shuffle shuffle.... next time I'm in the water.... going to get the willies again and cold chill down the back. I wade through many stingrays walking for miles when I fish. Yikes.

I bought a pair on Friday from Academy and waded with them all day Sat. They were somewhat uncomfortable and heavy, but after seeing Capt. Mike foot I'm keeping them. Does anyone know of anyone that taken a direct hit while wearing the thicker everlast reef boots? I've heard stories about barbs piercing through some pretty dense stuff.

Mont is running a charity auction for him if you guys want to help out.

That looks very painful he will be getting a skin graft for sure. I have one in the exact place and 3 years later I'm still in pain. Cant wish that on anybody. Best wishes for him and his family.

Dag gum that looks awful. Getting hit by a ray is bad enough, but flesh eating bateria is some wicked stuff.

Here's to wishing you well Mike.

Stingray wounds take months to close up if all goes well. Academy sells some quick clip on stingray guards for about $29.
