A friends father pasted recently, she wants to sell a few things off. She has a new never been in the water? 1986 Traveler 18' Jon boat with a trailer and 50 horse johnson motor.
Any idea what it's worth or a good place to find out would help! _________________ "Wishing I was there, Fishing" |

I tried NADA it doesn't have this one listed
1986 Traveler 1860WC Workboat
it does have 1986 traveler boats but they are all fiberglass not aluminum
I found this link on the web

never been in the water? change the waterpump first thing. It has to be a rivited hull being an 86. I have no idea maybe $2500.00 to start. Sounds resonable for a 86 in excellent condition. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |

Congratulations on an excellednt find, but remember that it is 23 years old, even it has never been in the water and unless it has been stored inside a barn, it will have unseen corrosion in the joints(atmospheric corrosion) that if fairly common with aluminum where two surfaces touch each other without asny protective coating between. I would do a minimum of two things before I made an offer, run the engine and then if there is ample water flow thru the water pump, put it in the water and take short test run. if there is any hidden corrosion, that will cause it to show up, If everything looks good and the motor runs good, I agree with IMS 2500 max. If the trailer is not galvanized knock 2-300 off that.
If all checks out well and you buy it, as someone else on this thread said, change the water pump for sure. Might have to chnage the plug wires and or fuel hose too, just because of age and embrittledment.

Good luck and let us know how things turn our

By the way it was stored in a barn, I agree their needs to be general maintenance before it is used! This is a very rear set up I can't find one on ebay, craigslist, NADA, or web! The boat is rated for 75 HP, and if in fact the motor is a new old 86 50hp wouldn't it be worth that by itself? I haven't seen it, it's 60 miles away, I'm just trying to help a friend of a friend with her fathers estate. _________________ "Wishing I was there, Fishing" |

At that age its almost in the vintage class like my rock and roll. I found a 1998 16ft 40hp in good shape for 3500.00 , thats about what i would start at asking for mine ITS A 16 FT WITH A 40HP. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |

IMS,
Your boat is well seasoned and trained.
I would start at a minimum of $5000.00 firm. |
