Where are the city limit boundries? If your not in/on/cross city property I dont think there is anything they can do about it.

I have mixed feelings on that one.....nothing against duck hunters , i like eating duck myself. But there is a couple of blinds within pellet range, as long as the pellets fall out there and not on me ....no problemo. The noise is not a factor. boom, boom. Very Happy The sound of pellets falling on your truck in the driveway......problemo. Smile

Seems to me there is a simple solution to the shotgun pellet problem. I lease my property to TPWD for dove hunting and TPWD personel put up signs for a no entry zone around any dwelling located on the leased property. The no entry zone is placed at a distance that insures no pellets falling on the residence. This has worked for me and it seems that boundary lines set up near any dwelling should solve the problm. Just my 2 cents, I am not a duck hunter.

What a Joke !

It was already in the city ordinance as of 2000, that it was prohibited to hunt within 1000 feet of a structure for residence or commercial occupation.

Now they have included with in 1000 feet of Laguna shores shoreline.Mad

This was brought up by ONE person that lives on Laguna shores.Mad

On the first reading this passed with a unanimous vote from or great city council.Mad

Thank you Michael McCutchon for your vote for the sportsmen of this town.Mad

There is a second reading/vote on this set for 3/24/09

email your council member to let them know what you think.

When you read what is in the Background information on this issue it states that, " The Police dept. has also received complaints of conflicts between duck hunters and windsurfers along the Laguna Shores shoreline."

Hmmmm......... sounds to me like the little wind surf camp on Laguna Shores want to get rid of duck hunting next to their little camp.

I wonder if they obtained a permit to land fill that little camp?

I have been down Laguna Shores and they like to park illegally around the camp! I think maybe next time and from now on I will file complaints on the matter.

This is the reply to my email to Michael McCutchon,

"In responding to another duck hunter, I said that I don’t think the 1,000-foot rule would prevent duck hunting done by wading in from shore. The other hunter estimated that shot would travel 750 feet. Add in a little wind, and a buffer, and the 1,000-foot rule would keep people on land from getting hit."
Michael McCutchon,

This in effect will mean that you have to be over 3/4's of a mile from the shore line before it is legal to hunt in the Laguna.
