Once again the Sheepehead Co-operated. Ariving at 9:00 AM, I had my limit using dead shrimp by 1:00. Lots of people fishing there, but I only saw one other SH taken.

Throwing to the far side of the Channel marker, using incredibly small circle hooks, and letting the bait drift down the channel was the key. Never feeling a tap, I could tell the fish were on by the line just staying still.

I will very likely return this afternoon for another round of Sheepshead.

I just spent all morning sharpening my fillet and buck knife. The Buck works great on the Sheepsheads, as my fillet knife doent have enough backbone to get into their incredibly tough skin.

The grilled Sheepshead served over rice was amazing, a meal any Chinaman would dream of.

Love eating them things but hate cleaning them. Saw a guide using a knife that dang near looked like a machete clean them once and he was knocking out 3 to my one with a fillet knife.
Sure was glad to see the size limit go to 14" since it wasn't worth cleaning a 12"er. Hopefully the warm weather this week will bring in some bigger ones for the weekend.

I agree,

A 14 inch limit is a very good thing. All of the ones I was catching were in the 16-20 inch size. The size limit is going to increase Sept. to 15 inches. no problemo !

Still trying to put an edge on my buck knife, which incidently is one of my #1 fishing tools. I never leave home without it. I usually wear it in sheath on my belt. I always have to catch myself before I walk into a convienence store with it.

See you back at the PCP, 3:00- 9:00.... PM
