I think he means were being robbed by thiefs locally and thiefs in DC too.
I remember as a kid in high schools, that friends only went to the Bluff when they were looking for various uh, ingestible products, growing in farm fields. _________________ GOBZA!!!

This is a classic:
-Worked all day long at the city impound auction buying and transporting cars, getting them started tires aired up ,towed and the like.
-9:30 PM comes around- tired , hungry , dirty , and thirsty for a TOPSHELF we pull into the new CANCUN reastaurant on FB drive and SPID
- I case the joint for a spot that I can park so that I can still see my truck F-350 w/ tools showing compressor, floorjack etc and I back her in. My lady friend laughs at my paranoid nature and we go in
- Reggae SKA band is tearing it up on the patio and we watch for a second and discuss eating on the patio. I debate and in a flash I say "it sucks to have to watch the truck instead but we ARE in Corpus and the Bluff no less.
Dinner is devoured and I,m just sippin on my rita when SURE as SHXX a guy walks up to my truck and starts simultaneously checking the door handles on my locked truck. He gets to the left rear and starts at my tools in the bed and im about to fall over trying to get out of my chair and according to my friend Im stuttering some explicatives about my truck
- I run out of the restaurant and confront him and corner him at the same time watching my back for an accomplice ..we argue and I get in his face and about to do something even stupider that I would certainly regret right now when I see some other man is walking fast towards me.-- I yell "are you with this guy " he says no and that he is an off duty officer. (was having dinner 15 feet from us)
- - Officer DeLeon (90% sure on the name) took over from there and I called it in and the thief was hauled off in record time.
I went in slurped down my Rita paid my bill and his (didnt let him know so he couldnt decline) and I was gone home.
THANKS Officer DeLeon for acting fast as I was about to get sued by this guy or worse go to jail myself for losing it on a worthless SOB or even a worst fate from his accomplice who drove off as soon as the cops showed according to my friend.
Im very happy it ended this way...It rarely does ...
they are so quick, efficient, and know what they are doing and are non stop driven by something so strong ! fortunately so was the CCPD tonight _________________ Say what you mean and mean what you say and always be ready to back it up!!! |

if more people said thanks or as in your case secretly bought dinner for our FRIENDS in blue, we would all come to appreciate the job thats done each & every day. it's a tough job cause they seldom deal with people with good behavior and that's makes their job just that much worse. glad it worked out for you. _________________ ccbobber |

All the above is the reason I have a CHL and always carry.
I live up in Kerrville and we don't seem to have near the problems you guys have down in the Bluff. Of course almost everyone up here normally has a gun somewhere close at hand and it is still common to see rifles on headache racks in town.
Hummmm!!!!!!!!! Maybe that's the reason??? |

First of all 99% of all the bad folks that slither around and sponge off the good folks here....came from somewhere else. like north from here. The Bluff is actually a pretty cool place and stuffed with good people. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |

Agreed. I love the Bluff and my neck of the woods is worth the drive(laguna vista). I love the people that live and contribute to it. However I have to say that the SPID area of the bluff is filled with transiant types and yes you do have to watch your stuff like a hawk there. There are some bad pockets here and it stinks that the bluff gets the reputation we get from them. In recent years it has gotten better but there is still alot of work to do. _________________ Say what you mean and mean what you say and always be ready to back it up!!! |

| My theory has always been that people finding a different agenda or difficulty fitting into the norms of society keep on moving. Eventually, they hit the coast and can't go any further. Think about California - it explains so much. But they accumulate, giving the native sons a poor reputation. I've been fortunate to meet some great Flour Bluffians, mainly in Stan's garage, but good all the same (LOL). I like the idea of treating law officers respectfully with even the occasional perk they can't refuse. |

IMS,
I hear ya brother, I love living here in the bluff. I'm close to work, the island, all the fishing I could want and the best school district in Corpus. Now if we could only get the city to fix just a couple of the potholes in the roads around here... LOL |

Don't get me wrong folks...believe me, I love living here in the Bluff as well. There are tons of good folks here just living good lives. I'm surrounded by them here on my street. I just hate to see things going down hill in certain ways...It seems to happen in cycles here. Right now, in my opinion, we are kind of on the "going down hill" cycle. I'm sure it will get better. You want to know how much I love living here? I just sold my house and put a contract on a house here in the bluff even though I can get a lot more house for the money(and I do mean A LOT) just a few miles away. |

[quote="Big John"]I think he means were being robbed by thiefs locally and thiefs in DC too.]
Big John,
Thank you for stepping up to the plate for me! (Apparently a few posters' posts were either self-deleted or the mods deleted 'em. To fill in the gap, here is my reply):
In regard to politics, I remained vague but the astute observer who is steeped in the current B.S. spoon-fed via whatever radio or t.v. political bent, from any given calls to action, or chest-thumping, empty rhetorical braggadocio clarion call, can spout what, or of whom, who is a spade and what is not exactly that spade. I am not either left or right, but an objective bystander, who is obeying the rules of this site.
In this day and age, a fishing rod is nice to have. Heaven forbid when I have nearly two thousand bucks of surf rods prominently displayed off my custom-made bumper and in the back of my 4x4; and the very day I'm fishing alone and I walk into a convenience store to buy two or three 20 lb bags of ice; I get a sick feeling in my stomach, wondering if the store has video cameras and if/when some effing illegal or down-on-his-luck lemming decides to "appropiate" my fishing gear! |

Big John,
How does the word "irony" sound to ya? I had an Uncle in Alaska whose sole "bidness" was catered to medicinal and organic herbs (when it was legal to grow, er, uh, nurture and baby-sit "horseradish" with certain lights....and these plants grew into major profits (who'd thought?).
Too bad an ex-president "didn't inhale!"
Another story, and another time~ |

Huntnetime,
My parents owned a lot on Padre Island. (I can't legally disclose this location due to legal reason, or any ramifications thereof. All I can say it was a "primo" lot bought around 1985. If you want pictures and story, and why my family left Corpus in 1986 due to a corrupt city government, "I am all ears, and one with an acidic tongue!") |

Ironmanstan,
I understand your pro-ethnic slant. We are all trying to remain politie here. It is more of a social-demographic problem. When I spent the night at a motel on SPID this past November, to bury my DAD at Memorial Gardens, the only "ethnic" conflict I came across was from a blonde-crack whore. She nearly fell off the two story motel steps down to the ground. I asked her if she needed any help and she said, "No."
I then pleaded with her to get back to her room. Having heard the diesel 3/4 or 1 ton truck started in the parking lot, I figured she had a loved one, or abuser, in wait, or "in-tow." She asked if i had any "white," as in coke. Being ignorant as I am and not a druggie, she siad, "you, know....." and rubbed her finger below her nose. |
