I hadn't been past the university for awhile until Saturday night.
I noticed two huge signs saying "this was US property and vehicles subject for search" (sort of)
????
And no one was fishing the bridge or shore.
Is this area off limits now? Can we wade the channel anymore?
Thanks.

The signs go on to say that anyone past that point is subject to search by the Navy police. It is still ok to fish down there, but be prepared for a hassle is one of their trucks happens to cruise by. Other than the occasional hard time, it is still legal to fish down there.

Last I knew you could still fish down there. However, the last time I drove by it doesnt seem there are as many people that fish down that way as there used to be. I have never fished that area but have lots of friends that do/have. And they tell me there are some really sweet spots in the area for some fish. So if you got the itch to fish there, ya might wanna try and scratch it.

That is kinda funny.

That area holds tons of fish if you know where and when to cast.
You can wade all the way to the mud bridge supposidly.

Think your hardcore OSO wadefishin try that?

I do agree that the area is dirty but, so are a lot of places.
STOP DUMPIN CRAP out there! Report Illegal dumping!
If its government land and they can harass you for fishin,
why don't they stop the dumpin.

I to fished that spot with some success in the past. A couple of early Springs ago I caught some nice 20 to 25 inch trout using Norton bull minnows and suspending Mirrolures during mid morning. I must agree though, there are some rough looking people that show up there at times, and they are the ones dumping crap all along the bridge, it makes me sick... Well, I've never had problems with the Navy police there, but again it could be different there now b/c I haven't been there in a while. The Navy police are pretty tough to deal with, so I hear. I lived on Campus for a while, but now I'm residing on the island, and I've got better places to fish here than at the bridge by campus.

I've been to most of the spots along the Oso over the years.
The mud bridge in cold months can't be beat. Must of the nay sayers
are probably casting into 6" of water.

A few years ago there was a NewsPaper article asking GameWardens
where the secret spots were. He said that Mud Bridge is where he
checked people. (I even saw a few guys duck hunting back there).

A few of my friends say that the channel between the college and
base is the best. I have done good there a few times.
My best friends dad musta told us 100 times that the BIGGEST trout
he ever caught was on the bay side going to the base.
