I'm a little late getting around to this. Here's my story:

First - the rig. I'm sorry if you have seen this before, but I finally got the kayak perfected with big ice chest - ready for action.

10 Oct - We began scouting early in October while returning from an afternoon on the water - my son gigged the first one of the season.

17 Oct – I returned the next week to collect 4 more – sized up to about 18”.

26 Oct – This time we brought back 8 – the best being over 20”…can’t beat a tailgate full of fish.

21 Nov – Got 2 before a major cold front blew in and ended any hope of continuing – we barely made it back from that one (no pictures).

26 Nov – I hadn’t quite got it out of my system, so I went back and found 5 more – fresh for Thanksgiving Day. The best again was over 20”.

I stabled one of them in the stomach, and while in the ice chest it regurgitated a rather large mouthful.

It turned out to be a baby speckled trout. Cool, huh?

Very cool about the small Speck!

Flounder run was interesting this year, wish it was still on... smoked their asses for almost 3 months straight. Too bad next year the the fall season will be banned from harvest.

Nice flounder and set up, being attached to the yak
the light that is. Is it a burden when giging in shallw water with diferent depths?Does it get stuck on the bottom often? Just currious ive got a yak too and just thinking of which way to go when gigging. Thanks for the report and pics. NICE SET UP. Cool

Oz - I have been hearing about the proposed changes. I don't think I would mind reducing to half a limit (that's about all I ever get anyway), but to ban gigging? If it does happen, I'm glad my kids got to experience it for a while, at least.

Surfdragon - the light has an adjustable height and swivels 360 deg. I just added a reply to the sticky at the top of this forum with more details - or just go to:
