First, is it legal, other than PINS, to launch in the surf both boats and wave runners?

Second, with water calm, what are other things people need to be aware of? How much time do you have before losing a vehicle?

Third, do waver runners encounter problems with sucking up sand on the sand bars? Does it hurt them to suck a little sand?

Last, if there is web information concerning these things, what is it?

Thanks for the help.

Gib, let me know if you are ever going to the beach with your ski. I have been wanting to fish offshore with mine but need a buddy boat. Also, it is a fun place to ride.

To lauch, just take the trailer off the truck and wheel it into the water. pull the ski off, attach it to a good anchor and bring the trailer out of the water. That part is pretty easy as long as the surf isn't too bad and you don't get stuck on a shallow sand bar. It is easiest when the first gut is deep enough to get the ski off. This is still easiest to do with 2 people.

To pull the ski out is a different story. Go to Harbour Freight and pick up a wheel that does not swivel. The tire is about 6 inches and will be about 3 wide. They are at the back right of the store. Do not buy the one with the swivel. It has a wide plate on top with 4 cutouts to place U-bolts. Attach it to the tongue of the trailer with 2 u-bolts which you can purchase at boaters world. This will keep the tongue of the trailer out of the sand when you place the ski back on the trailer and pull it out with a rope and your truck. Buy at least 100 feet of docking line and 2 clamps. You will attach one clamp to the trailer and one to your truck hitch. You will put the ski on the trailer in the surf. Latch the clamp to your trailer chains, walk up to the truck, and pull the ski and trailer out of the surf with the truck. Roll up the rope and attach the trailer onto the hitch. It is much easier to get the ski on the trailer with 2 people.

To get my boat back on the trailer, I always used to just hook on to the bow eye and drag it up the sand out of the water, then disconnect the trailer from the truck and winch it under the boat, worked well for me !

check with the local county regulations on beach launching. if I'm not mistaken it's not legal to do, but can be accomplished without much trouble in kleberg
