I found a brand new marine interstate battery lying on the beach at the start of last years sharkathon. Guess it bounced off the back of some poor suckers truck.
Best battery for the price! _________________ Posted by

The Optima Batteries are awesome. I just put 3 in my boat. They are spill proof, smaller than reguar deep cycle batteries, and hold their charge much longer. If you are interested i have 3 more for sell at $165 each or $450 for all 3. The series is a D34M. Which means a dual purpose marine battery. they are Optima Blue Tops and are brand new still in the plastic wrap. Look them up on Autozone.com. they list at $189.99 each plus a $12 core charge. Let me know if you are interested. i have pictures posted on this site classified section. _________________ 'When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.' |

Truthfully for the almighty buck $$$$ Interstate and just a plain-o wal-mart battery. If I get 3 years out of a battery for a 100.00 I'm happy. Thats what I've gotten out of my Interstate trolling battery It will still hold a charge for 2hrs on high speed but it used to hold it for 4 hours, and i take good care of my stuff. I will replace it with a wal-mart max which is rated 29 dc which is a step up from the 27, still under a 100.00 bucks.
happy, happy, happy. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |

I'm agree IMS. But he said something very important, "I take good care of my stuff." Batteries need attention just like any other gear. Which ever battery you choose do some homework on the care and maintenance thereof. Particularly google up information on why batteries fail. That way you know the "why" behind the maintenance.

I'm not sure if it applies to marine batteries but a friend of mine did an internship at Johnson Controls during college where they processed automotive batteries. All the batteries that came in were identical (bare & black). The only thing that differentiated wal mart, autozone, orielly batteries was the label they slapped on it. The exception was interstate since they aren't black batteries.
Seems to me that most batteries are created equal (with the exception of Optima), so I would have to agree with IMS. |

| I have 3 optima blue tops to run my boat and 36 volt trolling motor and replaced one this year. The other two are five years old. Beats buying trolling motor batteries every year to year and a half. |
