The Kayak 4 Redfish seminar class (conventional tackle) hit the water with great expectations. The wind was very calm and glassy surfaces greeted us as we launched from the Crabman Marina. The water was about 3.687 inches lower than normal. An expected mid-day incoming tide would take care of that. The water clarity was very good. About mid-morning the wind picked up from the NE. Most of you familiar with the middle coast know that an ESE wind is normal. What is not normal is the wind cranking up to about 30mph. The rain did not help either, but it passed quickly and the high wind dried us out pretty fast. While conditions were not optimal, several people caught fish in that windstorm. A few fish hit topwater lures while the majority were caught on red and green colored plastics. Due to anticipation of the changing weather, we launched out of Crabman’s and once the day was over, we let the wind blow us back to our vehicles. I did not dare pull out my big rig (Canon camera) due to the sray from the wind, but Captain Sally managed a few pics. More at my website below, click on "Fish Reports"
