Unbelievably rude, Mike.

I wonder if they understood that showing up the next day at the rocks you guided them to was basically an "in your face" insult. Probably not.. that would require thinking of someone other than themselves, a quality they appear to be lacking.

That is exactly it!!!! And it is running rampant!!!!!!!!!!! It is reaching epidemic proportions.

How hard is it to just be considerate to other folks? For me and most of us, probably not hard at all. In fact, it is pretty much the way we operate without thinking at all. But I meet less folks like us every day.

what is a GPS???

i've never seen one in the bluff? is that a new color of shrimper boots?

sorry for the loss of your honey hole.

I thought one day it would be cool to save up my pennies and charter a guide but have them take me to areas around the bluff to learn how to fish my backyard better.

Baffin would be cool but there is now way I could wade/yak there from here.
so I would most likely not get to go there again.

Oh Hell guys...I got over it as soon as I got back to the dock and got a drink. Sometimes it can be a never ending story out there.

I kinda like what chuck said "what's a GPS?" I don't use one either I guess I'm still as old school as they come. I have alot better feeling of
accomplishment.

Just thought you guys would get a kick out of the story.

Hey chuck..any other time I would be fishing the "backyard" but had to pick the up down there. With the cost of gas, the closer to home the better. Very Happy

Mike

Well I'm off today...finally. Thought I would share this story. It happen
yesterday...
I had a charter Monday, the person that booked the trip asked me to pick them up at their cabin in Baffin, which I have done with other clients
in the past. There was a total of 6 people so he said he would fish 3 people from one of their boats and I could fish 3 people from mine (no problem). I had been on some pretty good trout on the deep rocks all week using bait so I hauled extra bait down so the other boat would have
some. After a short run from their cabin I set up the other boat on a set of rocks and then I got set up. The guys fishing from my boat did pretty good with a box full of trout that averaged 20". The other boats catch wasn't even close but I think that was due to the lack of experience.
At the end of the day I noticed one of the guys in the other boat had a hand-held GPS hanging around his neck. I knew then I was screwed.
Tuesday morning I reached Baffin early, with another group of people
and guess what....their they were, my Monday charter sitting on the same set of rocks with their on boats. Funny part about this was the guy that owns the cabin has had it for 30 years. Seems to me he might know where to fish other that where I took them.
I hate greedy people......

Just thought you guys might get a kick out of this one....by the way the guy who booked the trip had another charter set up for June...I cancelled it yesterday afternoon Evil or Very Mad
Even as low life as some people think guides are we never do that to each other....

Mike

Good for you.....!!!! +1 on the sand bagging the charter.

Nope. It's a new fangled air conditioner for bay boats. I know this for a fact, cause a few months ago I was returning to Bird Island from Baffin Bay in the middle of the night with a failed spotlight (damn it was dark) and my GPS lost it's mind. I immediately broke out into a sweat and didn't stop sweating until it came back on. Smile

That's a good one dude! Very Happy The water sure can get shallow quick when your not in the channel, and those pilings aren't much fun either!

This story is the topper... I imagine sometimes clients book a trip to learn fishing spots after explaining this is what the trip would be about...but 30 years later, no explanation, a GPS, , and in their newly found hole the very next day, let's pray they got back to the dock safely. You handled this very well.

My hat is off to you Capt. Mike. You showed more class than most of us would have. And you got over it while we are still chewing on it.

Class tells.

I would be embarrased to relate any of the evil things I thought of to get back at them. No class here!

Many people don't realize how important "people skills" are to a guide (businessman).

When I look at your problems & costs, it makes me glad that fishing is my hobby, and not my business.

People can be terrible, but then you get a good one and everything is all right with the world.

Thanks for being part of Tyler's World

Bill

Lets hope potlickers never figure out over the horizon RADAR, a technology actually developed right here on Ward Island Wink

Here's a solution: hardhead torpedoes. Have a remote-controlled boat that's very low profile with a really large live well with doors in the hull filled with hardheads. Send it towards the potlickers enjoy the show.
