Either it is me or it seems that there are not that many good fishing reports coming in from the Laguna and near by area right now?
I know my last trip down we could not catch a redfish to save our lives but found some good trout and have caught more flounder on my last 2 trips than i have in thelast 2 years! headed back down Thursday night to fish fri - sunday and hopefully things will pick up but I am not too encouraged by the reports I have been seeing!
For the last couple of years by this time the redfish have been thick in the ULM and it almost seems like they are not coming out to play right now! |

| There's been a couple of tournaments the last 2 weeks. The tower boats are keeping the reds on edge. If you find a flat that is free of burn boats, consider yourself lucky! I'm not poking at tournaments, just the burn boats that have no consideration for anglers that are actually stalking the fish istead of chasing them. I was ran by (closer than a 100 feet) a dozen times Sunday. No Respect. |

| There were reds all over the Lighthouse Lakes on Sunday morning but I could only get one to bite. Very cool and frustrating at the same time. |

| I should clarify, I have been catching lots of trout and beet my personal best by a longshot earlier this year w/ an 8.5# and 29 1/4" I just cannot find the dang redfish! Last year by now they were thick thick thick! I have seen some fish but cannot get them to eat and have yet to see any schools to amount to anything? |

The redfishing had been on fire in the ULM for about 3 weeks but I feel this
last front, high pressure and the fishing pressure over the weekend gave them lock-jaw for a few days (their still there). Give it a little time a so/southeast wind and a steady lower pressure and the bite will be back on. I've seen, over the years alot of days they will get a bad case of lock-jaw, I talked with a friend of mine that had the same story you did about the redfish on Sunday. He said they were there, they could seem them and despite the number of times they put a bait in their face the fish wouldn't eat.

I agree that this has the redfish scattered. I've heard recently that the directors of all the major tournaments have asked people who have witnessed "burning" by a tournament boat to report them.
As for finding the redfish, you can still pick up a few along the edges of the channels and drops _________________ "Ya'll must eat a lot of fish" |

Not just tournament anglers burning flats but what about people running shorelines also. I have been out with some anglers who have been fishing for years, and they do not know any other way to get around but run right up on the shoreline. The Tide Guage, Baffin S. Shore and KR shore are always getting run over. It can be frustrating when your trying to wade these areas....especially when it's calm and they can and should run the channel or boat lanes. I know of a few areas where I must hug the shore at times. Most of the time I'm out in the channel or deep regardless of the chop but it's tough to avoid all fishing boats.
As for redfish tournaments, those guys are on a mission to find fish and they are going to be up skinny burning flats until told otherwise. Not my bag. It will mess up fishing for everyone else for sure. _________________ Grind

| Your right, it's not just tournament anglers running around in tower boats. Lot's of locals have started running them. I don't know if they realize how much damage they are doing to the fish and the flat when they run nose high with the motor tucked under the boat. I can run across some of the same flats and never kick up any mud (without a tunnel). When a burner comes by, you can see his mud trail everywhere he goes. |

well I got to sneak out for the afternoon yesterday and I got a couple 18" trout and a 17" flounder but missed the slam. It was killing me knowing that there were five other anglers scattered in the area and all caught reds, a few limited out but my buddy and I couldn't get a single hook up from a red. We were even using live shrimp just like everyone else. Oh well maybe next time. _________________ still chasing my 30" trout |

| I drifted a flat last weekend that I normally just cruise by because, well, its right by JFK. It was loaded with reds and I caught several up to 26" on the fly rod. They were scatterd, but they were there. |
