Bluffer,
The thread was on 2coolfishing.com, where it was finally deleted apparently, and its on TKF, http://www.texaskayakfisherman.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=88864&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0.
I had seen the pictures, but not the threads, in a couple of e-mails. I checked the one on TKF. Its been up for a day or so and has 5 pages; the young man has been turned in to the TP&W, the dean of his college, and generally everyone else. Once I checked the thread, it looks like me has been pretty well crucified.
I think its wrong to destroy the seagrass, but its also wrong to destroy a young man. Once he realized peoples' feelings on 2coolfishing, he apologized (reported on the TKF thread) which I think says a lot about him.

They pulled it completely - you can still see it on kayakfisherman or WET. _________________ Save the seagrass......Shoot some ducks |

Unfortuntely, it sometimes takes shame and ridicule to force some folks to developed some integrity and character. Young folks these days seem to think that it's a badge of honor and a step up the social ladder to do something stupid and/or heinous and video tape it for all their peers to see. _________________ Dave

Unfortunately we still have lots of folks that do it around here. If you do a lot of wading I am sure you see all the prop trenches and scars up close to the shorelines. Some of those trenches are 4 to 5 inches deep. I have tripped over them a few times when the water is not clear. I wouldn't think thats very good on their lower unit.
Its amazing to me to see these guys burning the shorelines just to spook everything off and never stopping to fish!
Oh well, excuse my rant... |

I don't feel the least bit of remorse for the guy in the pic whether he apologized or not. I saw the original thread and he was anything but apologetic. He, and the guy who took the pics, constantly justified their actions saying no vegetation was destroyed during their "burning" and "we were just having a little fun".
I'm glad to see actions being taken against this guy and I hope they make an example of him. This type of thing cannot be allowed to happen. If he gets the book thrown at him, maybe it will discourage others from doing the same damage to our resources. _________________ "Ya'll must eat a lot of fish" |

Ray, with all due respect, everytime some pro athlete or movie/music star gets caught and convicted of doing something illegal they immediately drop into rehab/counceling and/or miraculously find Jesus. That's not an apology either, just a sham. If these perps really meant their apology then more power to them and maybe they will not continue down this path.
I doubt either, but I've been wrong before. Like the old saying goes,"leopards don't change their spots". Human sometimes do, but rarely. _________________ Dave

I saw the original post on 2cool as well and topdog is right. Both boys were claiming they were just having fun but they have been on these boards long enough to know they were in the wrong...

Netboy...threnches are bad sure enough, but make lemonade out of lemons....redfish and trout use those trenches as highways. You can work
them to your advantage. Have caught more than a few fish cruising down a prop thrench highway _________________ WORK TO LIVE, LIVE TO FISH |

| I agree, good ambush spots, but down towards where I grew up fishing in the LLM, I cant believe the difference in the grass flats down there. Betweens Dunkins and Three Islands looks horrible. |
