We are getting ready for our week spring break trip to Port A and our youngest son loves fishing that pier and wanted to know if it had been repaired yet, told him I hadnt read anything about it but would post up with the question. So here it is-- Is the pier open or still need to be repaired? He's caught his 2 biggest fish from there and so thats why he always wants to fish there. THANKS, Tracy&DeeDee |

No...the pier has not been repaired, the city of Port A is still trying to find a way to have it paid for (other than using the city's money). There is no definite time table for repairing the pier. Sources estimate anywhere between $50,00 for repairs to $200,00 for a total replacement (the likely scenario). No telling when the pier will be up again. Hope this doesn't spoil your Spring Break plans.....the jetties area great spot for big salts as well _________________ Fishing is my addiction |

Anyone know if the pier has opened? I was down in June but was still not fixed. Anyone have any information if it is going to be rebuilt? |

I was at Charlies pasture about 3 weeks ago and the pier is still in shambles. Who knows when it will be open again. _________________ Be the kind of man that when your feet hit the floor each morning the devil says "Oh Crap, he's up!" |

Thanks. I found this on Port A city website, must be waiting on the grant, too bad because many fish this pier this time of year. Seems like they could repair what is broke now, this pier is normally very crowded and well used. No telling how long it will take to get the grant approved.
CMP (Coastal Management Program Grants)
CMP Cycle 14, Charlie's Pasture Pier proposal, was submitted to the Texas General Land Office (GLO) on June 20, 2008. The primary goal of the $165,000 proposal is to design and construct a new concrete pile pier. The old pier was partially destroyed by large draft vessel wake damage waves. |

There is another pier at the north end of Station Street.
