I have been looking at the new Abu Revo inshore reel and as well the Currado. I have the 300dsv but want a smaller reel for some lighter tackle so I exchanged it and have 250 to spend on a reel.
Has anyone used the Revo? If so would any one say that they would use a Abu Revo over a Currado?

AbuGarcia Revo inshore or Shimano Currado ????????????

Thanks, and sorry for all the questions lately and no reports, DELL has me by my mouse up here in Austin so I am unable to get out and back to Corpus.

I suggest the Daiwa Coastal or Advantage. Both darn good reels for the price.

I used Curados until they discontinued the old green style. Started using the Revo STX and now the new Inshore. I sold all of my green curados and do not regret it at all. The Revo Inshore is a great baitcast reel. Durable, smooth and lightweight, you will love the feel of this reel. Durable is the main factor for me, the reel just holds up well after repeated saltwater use. I have not had the same results with the Daiwa Coastal, it did not hold up as well after a while and I am having the bearings replaced right now. If I was going to buy a Shimano reel, I would go with the small Citica reel. Roy's has both the Shimano and the Revo's, check them out.

Id spend 100 bucks and find a good shimano scorpion 1500 on ebay. They are basically the same reel as the old green shimano curado. I bought a couple and they are awesome. I personally will not use the new shimanos. I spent almost more time jacking with them than fishing.

I have a Revo and I love it. I've never owned the other reels mentioned but I've never had a problem with my Revo. Durable and reasonably priced. Plus I trust Abu Garcia. I've had a 6500 for too long to remember and never had a problem. Unlike the Caluctta I had.

Still have my first Curado for 3 or 4 years and still reels and casts the same as day one. But I'm going to have to look at one of those Revos.

I personally was seeking for a reliable bait casting reel and came for you all for help. I received several advices between the Revo stx, Curado 100 ds, and the Daiwa Coastal. So I decided to go to Academy and purchase all 3 reels and test them to see which one performed the best. I tested the revo stx first and honestly I didn't want to put it down again. I went back the second day to test the daiwa coastal and the curado 100 ds, but the revo stx unequivocally out performed the other two reels in long castings, smoothness, and easiness to adjust drag, etc. I ended up returning the curado and daiwa coastal.

I still have 3 of the "green" Curados prolly had them for 5-6 yrs now. Untill they are retired which dont look like anytime soon Im not switching.
Normal upkeep & those Curados are the best! Very reliable reel.

I agree, the "green" Curados were the best. I am still not sure why the company went a different direction on that reel. The Revo Inshore is a great new saltwater reel. I have never used a reel that compares to it's performance.

I have the new Revo Premier, it is a high maintenace item and I do not recomend it for salt water use. The inshore is another kind of animal.
