DAD GUM - I will miss Artie - he was so full of piss and vinegar!
Meaning
Rowdy, boisterous, full of youthful energy.
Origin
The earliest citation we've found is from 1938 in John Steinbeck's, The Grapes of Wrath:
Grampa walked up and slapped Tom on the chest, and his eyes grinned with affection and pride. "How are ya, Tommy?"
"O.K.," said Tom. "How ya keepin' yaself?"
"Full a piss an' vinegar," said Grampa.
From a post I make back in August:
Artie has a storied past:
Original member of the Texas Banditos with Don Chambers in 1966.
Several state fishing records
Expert rod builder
High School buddies with Janet Joplin
Lived a pirate's life for many years - off the tax roles
It is surprizing he has lived as long as he has. He is a tough old crow and kind of looks like one too!
RIP brother - have a cold one for me!

Fished and drank with Artie a few times back when I was a member of the Austin CCA group. Brings back some memories.
There was only one Artie and he will be missed. |

Artie was a gentleman. He may have been rasied rough, but he always had the native intelligence to separate truth from bullsiht. This is such a rare commodity in an human being that we shoulld all rejoice that we have had the opportunity to know such a marvelous person.
Artie could fish. Does anyone wanto to deny it? Artie cculd also laugh. Please remember that. Artie also was a peacemaker. Please do nnt forget that.. He is irreplaceble and precious. Those of who were lucky to have known him are truly blesseed.
Artie, yyou were the only insomniac llike me. I love you and Rob so.
