My friend and i were fishing the flats by the bridge and saw a navy blue car with three people or four park real close to our trucks and get out and were walking around our trucks.I felt uneasy about it and started towards my truck around 2 0clock pm today and they saw us coming toward them and they still broke in my friends truck right in broad day light with cars passing by from the base. The first thought that came to mind was i wish i had a deer rifle to shoot them in the a$$. I cant believe these rats broke a window to get in,On the side cars were passing by and no one saw any thing. digital camera and a doufle bag were stolen,Called the cops for a report. be carefull buds dont go to far a way from your truck. CoolI WAS AROUND FOUR HUNDRED FEET FROM THE SHORE IN MY KAYAK AND COULDNT PADDLE FAST ENOUGH.

I guess with the tourist season slowing down for the summer they are back after the local fishermen again.

The same thing happened to me there a while back. It sucks. Most of these guys will park and hang out watching who leaves their cars. They will bounch around from BHP, JFK, IPP, Bird Island, Oso, Shamrock. Got to love them.

Sorry to hear about it.

I believe the Navy owns that property. If you reported it, they would probobly tell you not to fish there. I am not sure if the Navy security patrol that area or City PD. I hear about theft and vandalism there quite a bit. Actually, I've been hearing more and more all around the local shore fishing locales. I am frustrated by it as well. Something has to be done.

It may be time to invest in a good quality sling shot and some practice with it.

You may or may not be surprised how far a steel ball will fly inducing significant pain.

That sucks and nothing you can really do about it.....I read reports of this going on in various locations & the ends result is DONT LEAVE VALUBLES IN YOUR TRUCK! I take my Camera, wallet, CD faceplate & keys with me in yak. Store in drybag in your yak.
granted you could still get a window busted out but if no valubles are seen that may not happen & they could move on.
used to be the break-ins were at night there so the Navy closed it off. Next they'll close off the area permantly.
A buddy of mine even leaves his windows down so they dont break them & nothing to steal.

man this is getting to the crazy point. a sligshot? atleast a 22 automactic you dont have to shoot the people but you can fill their car full of holes.Who gonna say anything these thugs are stealing from some of the most honest people there are ...99%.. of fishermen do honor the code. Part of that code is not to steal and have respect for one another. When i travel i have either my 45 auto or my 44 mag depending on the mood i'm in when i leave the house. Maybe a 22 is a little over kill for some of you, at least a good pellet rifle of course a 400 yard shot would be a little far.

According to a local cop, auto burglaries are no longer a felony offense due to overcrowding in our prisons. Criminals expect a slap on the wrist these days.

Just remember if you wound them they can sue you and you could be the one going to jail. Get your CHL and you are legal. I have never had to take my pistol out of its hidding place, but if I do there will only be one side of the story. Son-in-law is a cop, his advice, avoid if possible but you have every right to protect yourself and property.

Remember aim for the largest body mass.

Before you set up a sting, or go after these idiots...Review Chapter 2 at least of the CHL handbook. Could help you out! Be careful out there!
