Although not directly a fishing post, it's certainly applicable. Corpus Christi
gasoline prices are being held much higher than almost anywhere else in the state, although the manufacturing is in Corpus Christi. Regular is as low as $2.04 a gallon near Austin, whereas it is at least $.50 higher per gallon in Corpus Christi. It's generally caused by the local distributors are very greedy.
San Antonio has much lower prices, as well.

I'm convinced it's a greedy scam. Especially before a holiday weekend. I was just in Rockport, and the lowest prices are $2.48. Non-ethanol is $3.24! Gee, we can leave out the 10% corn juice, and charge almost double! Regular goes up and down $0.50, and non-ethanol goes up and down a nickel! Why? Because they can. Apparently, Consumer Protection is non-functional, or maybe in on it. TexasJim

This is something that's bugged me for years. We're right here where it's refined but constantly pay 10˘ - 15˘ more per gallon. What gets me is you might fill up here then see gas 12˘ less in some podunk hill country town with a population of 524.

Please tell me where I can get gas near 2.04 around Austin. The cheapest gas I know of is at QT, $2.48.

Corpus prices are almost always lower than anything I can find around here.

(Keep in mind, Corpus may have a city gas sales tax)

My biggest beef with gas prices -

They go up and down, in unison!!!!!!! City-Wide. Based on the Law of Competition, this is IMPOSSIBLE.

Doesn't matter if it's Stripes, HEB, Exxon-Mobile, Chevron, Circle-K, 7-11, they all go up and down in price, in concert, every Monday morning. Twisted Evil

Hi Johninaustin, the day I posted the thread regular at the Costco in Kyle was $2.04 a gallon, but today it's $2.45 a gallon. In addition, Costco rebates 5% cash on their gas sales, thus the price difference is greater then what is on the pump. Traveling to and from Austin and Corpus Christi I normally stop at the Kyle or Selma Costco for gas. If I'm careful I don't usually need to accommodate the CC gas thieves. Go to gasbuddy.com to see the various gas prices all over the U.S. You can look at prices in any city, and at specific locations within.

Glory be! The non-ethanol gas in Rockport went down $.30 to $3.15! When I moved to the Coastal Bend ten years ago, I was told that ALL gas in this area comes from the Valero refinery on 281. If so, that's how the whole market can be dictated to go up en masse. Maybe not true. Probably someone here should know. We're still better off than Commifornia. TexasJim

TexasJim, you are close on where our local gas comes from, absolutely Valero (where I retired). Although Flint Hills and Citgo both are also major producers of local gasoline. Each fuel supplier to the local area has their own recipe of specifications and additives for their brand of gasoline. Just saying…..Smokey
