Went over to my son's this morning so he can help me with my income tax. When we first finished, it showed that I was going to owe money. Bummed me out. Before filing we went over and checked the numbers and I was in the positive this time. Uncle Sam owes me money.
After doing the income tax, even though it was super windy, we decided we needed a break and go hit the water for a little bit. We went back into nighthawk and the water was fairly clear. Rest of Laguna was ugly as hell. First drift which didn't take very long with the winds, even with our parachute out the back it didn't take us very long to drift almost the entire with of nighthawk. Went around and made another drift at a different spot. Second cast I pick you in a little trout. Little while later my son gets a nice 17 and a half incher. Move to another spot and here comes this towerboat cruising right along the color change line so that became non-productive. Went to the East shoreline and my son hooks into a nice red and right at the boat it spits his spoon. After that, on two consecutive casts I bring in a 2-in perch. We had a laugh about it. I then wind up hooking into and bringing in this nice 29-in red on, what else, tequila Gold. The winds are so strong at one time it almost blew me over the side of his boat. Rest of the time I fished I sit down on his ice chest to play it safe. Anyway, money back from Uncle Sam and nice fish is a good way to spend time with my son.
We also saw a frigate bird which was pretty cool and he always hear people say if you want to keep birds away from your property etc to put out owl decoys. This picture shows quite the contrary.
