Got to New Mexico a few days ago and after opening the house and getting things organized was able to fish today. Got down to the river about 10:30 and there was no wind the sun was bright temperature was 50. Using one of my go-to lures down here called a Joe's fly I wound up catching 11 trout, combinations of rainbows and browns, mostly in the stocking size category.

I did catch a nice trout that went a solid 19 in. Had a fun time bringing it in and he was even stripping line out on me.

When I got back I sent the picture of the big fish to New Mexico Parks and wildlife to possibly post on their weekly report. This is the response I got

Planning on it. Want to be attending the big celebration that they have at the Pueblo on Christmas eve. Procession of the Virgin Mary and a number of 30 ft tall bonfires. It's pretty awesome.
Here's a picture from last year showing how high the bonfire stacks of wood are. They're at least 10 this size around the Pueblo and a bunch of smaller ones. Needless to say don't have to worry about getting cold.

Great report. Tom! Good to see that if you get North of El Paso, fish can possibly live in the Rio Grande, before the maquiladoras and countless farms on both sides of the river poison it with pesticides and chemical residue. TexasJim
