WTH? How would this even work for fisherman?

This sounds like a disaster waiting for a place to happen.

I believe it's a two-story restaurant/meeting place they're talking about, not the pier itself.

That article and one other do specify the restaurant but I've seen countless articles (including the video below) that say "pier".

If it were a second story to the pier it would have to be extra tall to allow casting with long rods. Shocked

Good point. The lights could be mounted up there on the outside edge (easy to access to maintain) and would shine down in the water where you cast. Maybe the lower deck could extend out some at the very last 1/8 of the pier especially for the longpoles.

I just came back from Corpus on 10/13/22 and heard about the 2 story pier as well. if this is true fishing is not the city councils main concern. They seem to be listening to the wannabe surfers who claim that I pier of this structure will create bigger waves to ride. I'm sorry, I have not seen very many surfers ride a wave for more that 10 seconds in all the years I have fished on Bob Hall Pier. It seems they do not want fishing anymore in order to to deter the anglers that go with 10 rods and occupy as much space as they can on a popular spot.
