Can anyone give any guidance as to where there is any structure off of PINS that is reachable by an inflatable boat that is not too far out? I am looking for somewhere to start fishing for other things like kingfish and possibly some snapper or cobia.

There is very little, what folks have found they most likely will not want to share.

You can either go to the near rigs off of Bob Hall, the end of the Packery/Fish Pass jetties or just troll outside the surf line. I have caught kings in all four places from an inflatable, though with this upwelling the close in surf probably will not produce anything worthwhile. Remember, the wade guts count as structure too.

I HAVE caught ling and kings off of the south end of the PA jetties, but I consider it too dangerous unless conditions are perfect. Way too much heavy boat traffic.

I have noticed that people are tight lipped about it and I completely understand. I have done some trolling outside the surf line using drone spoons and plugs but haven't had any luck yet.

Best way to go about it is with a fish finder. Mark your spots via GPS. You'll find the most "structure" just past the surf line...and the farther down you go where you still have beach to maneuver, the better.

This is what I plan to do is mark it via GPS via fishfinder. I usually go at least to the 30mm if not further. I'd welcome someone who has some spots they know of to come with me on a calm day.

Your best bet is to drive down the beach on a calm day and look for the kayakers. Get a cheap fish finder and mark the spots. Look for any activity on top of the water as well. Every structure I have came across has had turtles and angel fish on the surface. Good luck in your searches! All you need is a little time on the water and youll find them. Any spot you do find try and keep it low key. they often get was over fished. Remember the kayakers!

I remember my old friend Paul Dirk who owned Dolphin Docks in Port Aransas with Dr. Bryan Gully talked about the old days in the 70 's dragging large long chains out of Port A. to find structures so that his head boats could fish them.

I have a good fishfinder installed that I can mark GPS points with already. I guess I have to stalk the kayakers in between trolling all over.

I was told there is a reef or some sort of structure somewhere in the 30's about 800-1000 yards out. Never located it or been out far enough to find it if it is there.

800 yards seems a tad shallow to me. If I were going to do this I'd probably concentrate on a 40' water depth.

But I'd try not to crowd the kayakers if they were there first. There is bound to be plenty of structure for all of us.

I've always thought this reef down PINS in 35' of water was cool but I don't have a clue how far down it is. Anybody know?

Get the navionics app on your phone. Scour the coastline for abnormalities in depth changes. This also works offshore looking for reefs and other structures. It may take some time but you can find some things that would be worth checking out. Better than going at it blindly for sure
