Surprised Surprised Surprised
Before this last front and while you were still out of town, the cove back here has literally been alive with something.
I'm 50yds off the water and on a calm night I can hear them up here
.. Thought it was gobs of shrimp, but now I'm not so sure.
This was late December early January.
Threw a top water out there at night and all I did was spook whatever it was...

I'm guessing the way this statement is written, someone will need to ask for
voluntary traffic suspension at every freeze forecast with low water temps.
Maybe if there is a "pinkie promise" between the two groups it will solve the issue. Until then I continue to write both the state and federal law makers.

our group did ask for a voluntary suspension....did anyone see any barges moving this past weekend?

I didn't, I was out of town trying to find CS a new front end for his beach jeep. LOL!!!!

Becky that is just BS. Maybe they were held up by the high wind these days before. If they need to make the run, they would have. I've seen more than one time the barges held up because of wind and couldn't go under the bridge safely.
I hope there is a positive response to your groups statement but as I said in a earlier thread. A man's word and handshake isn't worth anything today.
What happened in 2011 and 2021.........verbal agreement? right?

Looks like the effective date of the trout rules is March 10, but other then the comments in this CCA "Currents" I have not seen any formal announcement:https://ccatexas.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/CUR-FEB-MAR-2022-_reduced.pdf

While you might be asking questions, why not ask what and when the tug/barge companies are going to do to help replace the fish they killed.

It's difficult to blame them when recreational fisherman are filling stringers during the freeze. Obviously they have a bigger impact, but the optics of that are hard to argue.

So, did you pose the question as to why the barge traffic continue to run during the freezes of 2011 & 2021 after there was a verbal agreement not to?
I for one would like to know, I'm tired of picking up 100% of the tab after the barge companies kill most of the fish.

"the story we got told"

was that not all barges are part of the GICA, and that while GICA boats stopped, there were some independent barges that kept running....it was insinuated that it was barges from our neighbors to the east that kept running....but of course nothing in writing....
