Hey guys, I just tried to tilt the motor on the Dargel as it sits in the backyard. Had absolutely no power. I hooked the battery charger to it and it kept saying check connection. I tested the voltage with my multimeter, and it said .5 volts! I guess 5 years and its about done. I was just thinking a couple weeks ago what a great battery it has been. I have never once had it on the charger and I think we jumped it once after running the livewell for a day and a half with a 1000gph bilge pump. It was a Continental Marine/RV battery. I am interested in what you guys have in your boats and how well it has performed. I am impressed with the Continental but I am not sure who sells them around here and had no luck with a google search or with a search of Continental's website. Let me know if you know who sells the Continentals. Post up boys! _________________ http://www.thirdcoastoutdoors.com

Continental has always been good to me, but in the last few years I have gone to Inerstate.
I have had no problems with the Interstate, and I give the batteries a severe work over many times throughout the year.
If you go Interstate, buy at: the wholesale dealer or main shop in town. They are less expensive than trying to buy Inerstate anywhere else. I mean like 5, 10, 15, 20+.

Also, they are really good with their returns should your battery not last its full life. How do I know if batteries are good ones?
I don't care how good they are, if you do not take care of them, they break down.
For example, do not run battery down and then leave on concrete for six months and expect to have a charge. |

| Interstate are great....I doubt the Dargel would even float with a heavy supple bum gel battery in it.....hehehe |

| I use the gells on the trowler. I think Sam's culb had the best price. Then like Stan said for the two outboard/accessory batterys. |

Optima's are the way to go - a little pricey, but well worth it when it comes to reliability and performance. As Juanpescado said...get the blue top for marine. _________________ CONSERVATION IS KEY |

Optimas are expensive but you get what you pay for, can't beat them in my opinion. _________________ Later,

| The Optimas are definitely worth the money. They really take the abuse and hold a charge. |

Optimas are the way to go. Cranking or trolling motor, they can't be beat. Zero maintenance and a three year warranty that gets you a new battery with no questions asked. Worth the price. _________________ Capt. Tim Duncan
