| Figured i would post a report from the past few days. Fishing has been great in the surf, especially in the evenings. Topwaters are working best. Yesterday I caught 4 keeper trout and a red, today we got our trout limit in less than an hour after weeding through a lot of undersized ones, and I even jumped a small tarpon which was pretty cool (unfortunately didn't land her.) Some buddies from work have gone out everyday this week, and have limited out on trout everytime with a few reds mixed in. Get out there these next few days while the surf is flat! |

Thanks for the report. Good on ya for getting some limits.

Topwaters in the evening? Interesting.
I'm gonna hit it soon, it's been far too long since I've been without a beach (no thanks to KAREN - sorry surfnturf LOL but its true) and I took a good late summer vacation. I'd love to hear more. What's hitting what? Are the reds running yet?
Look out ol' sandy - here I come! _________________ All things will pass. Have a Blessed day. |

| Was fishing the beach, start out fishing close, but we have found that the bigger trout are pretty far out, most days we have been standing on the second bar, so that does mean walking thru chest deep water for a min or two. As for lures, if the fish are there, they are hitting just about anything, I have been using a chrome she dog with a green or blue top and orange throat, or a bone with chrome in the middle. My buddy has been using super spooks and skitter walks and he has been catching just as many, if not more as I have. I wasn't able to make it out last night, bu my buddies told me that they got a hold of some live croaker and mullet and it was game over. also a guy who was fishing down the beach from them landed a small tarpon. silver spoons and sinking twithbaits are just about as good. Throw a bone diamond down south and the smaller ones will be all over it. It seems that in the mornings, they aren't hitting as agressively, but the fish are bigger. From around 7:00 to dark has been the best times for us. We have been getting a few reds mixed in but not many, i think once the mullet move in the red bite will be good. |

Try throwing some doa cal shad airheads just go to a bit heavier weighted hook or put a bullet weight in front
Works for me. If worked right can be used as both top water and a deeper lure. Have fun _________________ Long time avid fisherman rod builder. |
