Haven't fished Nueces bay much so I dont know the water very well.
Went to the far end toward the river entrance looking for oyster bars.
Found one the hard way.
It was near a couple of small islands and a partly exposed reef.
Only one other boat was around there and I seen him poling out of a shallow spot so I dont feel as bad.
While I was beached there fished and caught three nice trout.
Two on top water plug and one on a slam shady (Salt Strong lure - rubber lure on a jig head).
Two redfish (to small) on dead shrimp one right after the other.
A few hardhead and one 15" black drum on the Slam Shady lure.
Wish I could post photos.
All and all it was a good morning and I learned a bit more about the bay.
If someone knows that area and is willing to teach I would gladly take you out in the boat (17ft Mako Skiff) some morning - for free of course. _________________ Willee 361-563-1303 |

Nueces Bay is nice and has alot of structure and depth changes.
Careful when the wind cranks up because she is a different animal. _________________ Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience. |
