From the park service facebook page >> Many people are asking for an exact date for our reopening. Our plan is to open the park sometime this coming week. It would not be good if we provided an exact day and missed that deadline. We will put out a press release and update our Facebook and web pages when there is a definite time.
We plan to open as many areas of the park as possible at the same time. Public safety is our top priority and some projects that remain to be finished involve the use of heavy equipment in public areas.
This photo is of a hazard object that must be dug up from south beach before it is reopened. We plan on having equipment remove this object early in the week. There will also be a barge operating in the vicinity of the boat ramp doing dock repairs early this week as well. There are other repairs ongoing within the park.
We understand that some people are frustrated with the time it is taking to reopen the park. We are working to open the park to all visitors in as timely a manner as is safely possible.
The staff that answer the phones and Facebook questions are doing the best that they can and may not have specific answers to every question. They will answer your questions and provide you with what current information they have between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily. If you send a question outside of those hours you will receive an automated response. Park staff will still address you question when they return to the office.<< _________________ Don - permanent prescription of salt water therapy. |

Debris removal is a horrible excuse to keep the park closed. I wonder how political these decisions are getting. _________________

And if a friend who is checking the weather is correct - we may have storms in the area the middle or end of next week. _________________ Don - permanent prescription of salt water therapy. |

I added my graffiti signature to it many, many, many Moons ago. So, getting it off the beach now is what's holding things up??? Good thing the Brazos River didn't flood and litter the beach with massive logs. Us poor souls would never know how to drive around those!! Nudge Nudge, Wink Wink! |

I have pictures of us around the thing years ago - shows you how often some of them even go down there to think that is some new "hazard". _________________ Don - permanent prescription of salt water therapy. |
