shrimp size is a seasonal thing - the bait does tend to be larger in summer, and very small in winter. It cycles around shrimp migration and spawning.
It's a good thing, because whatever that natural size, that's what the fish are queuing on, and you get a whole lot more 1-2" shrimp in your pint.
I would guess shrimp boats are trawling and bait shops are selling, but haven't bought bait since February.

Live shrimp and croaker usually available on Friday. Better get there early on Saturday (when they open). And sometimes none available on Sundays. It's been very crowded on the weekends...

Cos-Way stayed open through the entire COVID thing (because here they considered fishing a necessity), Red Dot shut down a while but are back online now. And they've both been packed on the weekends, so might want to hit it early if you want a chance at anything live. That being said, at $18/pt or so, I rarely buy live shrimp anymore. Crying or Very sad

But yes, there is bait to be had. Live? Depends on your (and their) timing. Just like Disney World: BRING MONEY! Laughing Laughing Laughing

Bay shrimp = 1=3" or so right? Kinda small, but if they stay alive a while, I'm in!
