shrimp size is a seasonal thing - the bait does tend to be larger in summer, and very small in winter. It cycles around shrimp migration and spawning.
It's a good thing, because whatever that natural size, that's what the fish are queuing on, and you get a whole lot more 1-2" shrimp in your pint.
I would guess shrimp boats are trawling and bait shops are selling, but haven't bought bait since February. |

| Live shrimp and croaker usually available on Friday. Better get there early on Saturday (when they open). And sometimes none available on Sundays. It's been very crowded on the weekends... |

Cos-Way stayed open through the entire COVID thing (because here they considered fishing a necessity), Red Dot shut down a while but are back online now. And they've both been packed on the weekends, so might want to hit it early if you want a chance at anything live. That being said, at $18/pt or so, I rarely buy live shrimp anymore.
But yes, there is bait to be had. Live? Depends on your (and their) timing. Just like Disney World: BRING MONEY! _________________ All things will pass. Have a Blessed day. |

Bay shrimp = 1=3" or so right? Kinda small, but if they stay alive a while, I'm in! _________________ All things will pass. Have a Blessed day. |
