I say this, because the repair of the potholes has stopped and they are getting
numerous and huge!

| is Laguna shores not considered a residential street? There's a list of all the residential streets being repaired listed in the newspaper this morning and Laguna shores was not listed. |

Laguna Shores is Bond 2018, which is already funded....the engineer turned in the 100% design plans two weeks ago and was supposed to go out for Bid starting with the public notice yesterday, but word is from city hall that it is hung up in "Purchasing", which has been the REAL impediment to many, many projects across this city....
I expect that there were some emails and phone calls this morning from disgruntled Council members to Purchasing due to a few texts that were sent this weekend....heh...

Ha! Expecting the City to start any bond projects timely is hilarious. There is always a hold up with the City for some reason or another.
No way were you one of the ones sending texts about this! I would never expect that from you Becky!

For the most part this is true. The problem with using cold patch is ideally you need to keep ALL traffic off of it for +48 hours. If it does not have enough time to cure out it will just push out and...well, you've seen the spotty work the City street department puts out.

what's the stuff that you tamp down and then hit with a pear burner? does that work any better?

That is just the regular Hot Mix. By heating it up you make the oil more viscous thereby creating more adhesion.
The problem with the way the City deals with any pot holes is they only throw hot mix in, heat it, tamp it and walk off. They're not fixing the problem, which is a subgrade failure. Hell, they don't even clean out the pot holes before throwing asphalt in nor will they add additional tack oil. They only put a band aid on it, which is why they always seem to get worse after a rain event.

I don't see them heating it these days....a couple of hand tamps and they gone!!

| I'm snowed under out of town, but was wondering what the status of the Laguna Shores rebuild project is? The last time I was there a couple of weeks ago the pot holes were getting so big and numerous in the southern section you had to go from side to side to miss them all! I think this project might be like Covid 19 and never be over! |
