| If PINS is 70 miles of coastline, and it clearly ends at the south channel that separates it from SPI, where does it officially begin? Is it right where the park road 22 ends, or further north? |

A bit north - if you take the first road to the left after you enter the park, it will take you out to the beach, there are a set of posts that block vehicles from going south on to the section known as malaquite - the place where you cant drive. You can walk to that area by several routes, one - by the pavilions , the 2nd - the RV campsite (no hookups) and then the 3rd would be that road i mentioned. _________________ Don - permanent prescription of salt water therapy. |

Thanks! I think I found it at exactly 27.491697,-97.266747. It's about 5.5 miles north of where 22 ends, which makes sense since the shoreline of PINS is supposed to be 65.5m long.

| If I'm not mistaken part of PINS runs from those posts to the the other set of posts one mile North. |

We're probably just talking beach here, but don't forget they also own a hell of a lot of land starting pretty much at the Kleberg county sign. It's as much a preserve and habitat as it is a popular fishing destination, and while turtles are their main focus, they give a lot to other species, too. (Not to mention all the hidden oil sites, ghost ranches, pirate treasures, unexploded government ordinances, etc rumored (and known) to be out there.
By the time you get to the welcome sign, you're probably ~5 miles in it already, so watch those rangers even on that desolate road. _________________ All things will pass. Have a Blessed day. |
