| Thanks, Donnie. That Alpha looks nice. I'm going to check it out next time I'm down there when he's open. |

| Zia, I realize you are looking for a 7' rod, but several years ago I tried out a 6'6" in a med-light rod and have gone to it almost exclusively, especially for spoons and your average size artificials. |

Bulldog I see you & I have Lamiglass in common . Lammie's are special I have been using them since the 1980's on Toledo Bend & now on Padre both my lure rods & 10ft surf rods . As you said Bulldog "Lamiglas are the best rod blanks handmade in the US, " . also they are the oldest American manufacture of blanks .
These are all good recommendations here in this thread we have a lot of good choices these days .
Zia as much as you fish I would encourage you to build yourself a rod . I recently built my first & it added another dimension of satisfaction to my fishing . _________________ Fishing is not a matter of life or death it is much more important then that !

Hi bro, I have a couple of Lami fly rods that shine, also - a rare 605 glass blank built by my friend Old Yankee Rodsmith, and a 7-1/2' Perigree 5-wt glass/graphite blend that's a near-weightless pocket rocket.
Andy (Old Yankee) worked for Diamondback when they still made rods in the US, and ran across a crate of 6' and 7' Conolon glass blanks for the original Lee Wulff fly rods.
He made those up and sold them while they lasted. He made one of the 7' Lee Wulff blanks into a custom 1-pc for me.
For awhile, had a very nice 8' 3-pc 4-wt Lami finished by Dwight Lyons, but it eventually burned a hole in my pocket and turned into something else. |

here's the MF 3-pc (discontinued) Cabela's Salt Striker Travel rod - the blank is TFO, I suspect the rod supplied by TFO, and TFO still sells rods built on the same blank. The Cabela's rod was a steal on $50 closeout.
Will add this rod has the stiffest tip of any inshore rod I've ever fished.
I keep the 3-pc travel rod in the kayak hold for my back-up, and it fishes well.
