The other day my power pole started coming up very very slowly. Now it'll go down with no problem but won't come back up. I disconnected the hydraulic hoses and the down hose pumps fluid no problem and the other one doesn't even though I hear the motor running. I contacted power pole and they told me some tests to run including disconnecting the wires attached directly to the battery and then switching polarity to see if it goes up or down. Still no uo movement. They told me to take out the pump and send it to them and they would repair it. Problem is when it comes to mechanical things my IQ is extremely low. I may be able to referee the hell out of volleyball matches but when it comes to stuff like that I'm not too swift. Anybody know how to disconnect the pump so that I can send it into power pole for repair.

Just did this 6 months ago. disconnect wires at battery, or at battery switch.

They folks at Power Pole told me to cut the wires, as they send new wiring, but I disconnected mine and snaked it out.

If you can reach the pump base, there are 2 phillips screws that hold pump to floor. If impossible to reach, there are 2 bolts that hold the pump to the vertical aluminum bracket that those screws hold to the floor.

the pump has 2 hoses that attach (one up, one down). They are brass, I think 14 mm (9/16). back them out and put rags under them to catch hydraulic oil.

The new pump may not be the same orientation of hose hookups. I labeled the hoses "inside" and "outside". WRONG. hose hookups were different. I should have read the fine print on the pump for "UP" and "DOWN" and labeled as such. So I had to reattach hoses twice so UP did not make it go down

Buy some new fluid. They recommend draining and replacing all fluid. Mine was less than 2 years old so I did not drain, just topped off reservoir.

There are procedures to get all air out of lines (see the little owners manual if you have it). If not, lower all the way and hold down button for 3 seconds after it stops, raise it all the way and hold up button for 3 seconds. check fluid level, top off, repeat. repeat, repeat.

It is pretty simple but if it was like mine, a contortionist act due to compartment location.

With the wiring they told me at power pole, blue is up like the sky and green is down like water.

That green/blue is handy to know. Mine was technically under warranty, but the the guy at S Texas Trolling Motors (where I bought it and had installed), said that covers everything but electronics. Hmmm... I guess a lot of the "computer cards" go out, and Power Pole replaces the whole unit, keeps everyone happy so no bad rumors pop up about their computer cards going bad

Anyway, I took it off, took it in and they mailed it to Power Pole. Long story short, I paid $86 for shipping/handling and they sent a new pump. I was OK with that.

I wish I were there to help, but at least you are dealing with Power Pole, one of the most responsible marine manufacturers out there. BTW, I once refereed a baseball game for my son's team and I was probably as bad at that as you are at mechanics! Laughing

Mine was just dirty oil. The environmentally friendly oil they use in these gets slimy and dirty in the bottom of the reservoir. I cleaned mine and put new oil. Good as new. Up, down, no issues. Adios

they said that the motor was bad. Might have been caused by water in it. Anyway a hundred dollars and brand new motor. Waiting for it to come back

There is a method to "marry" your keyfob to the new motor and computer card, computer wise, and it will "upgrade your fob with software.

I do not have the directions with me. Did they send instructions with the new unit?

seems I remember you would hold a button (or maybe both up and down on the pump unit at the same time?) while holding fob near pump. Fob starts blinking,keep holding buttons down (?) allow time for the download of software until blinking stops. Then it works. Something along those lines....

I remember I had to program the keyfob that hangs on a string, as well as the surface mount control that I had mounted to the center console dash. Did them separately, same method.
