I went out the last day for snapper out of Deep Sea Headquarters with Captain Wheeler. I fished the day before with a neighbor but we did not catch anything big enough to keep. I figured this trip would put us on some fish and I was right.

It was a perfect day, just enough wind to keep it cool for this time of year. By the end of the trip everyone on the boat limited out. The fish were large for what I am used to catching on a trip like this. My two fish weighed over 30lbs total.

Now for the surprise. Our fearless leader who runs this site was on the trip. I struck a conversation before we headed out about his rod. I thought his voice sounded familiar. Later we spoke again and I realized who he was.

So go through the pics below and see if you can pick him out. (Hint, he's catching a large snapper)

Tyler, it was great to meet you in person. I do read this site nearly everyday but I don't post much. But like I told you today, this site really helps me figure out whats going on when it comes to fishing. Its been a big help over the years. I will endeavor to post more going forward.

One last shout out to the Captain and crew today. They did a great job on a very busy day.

I was thinking about doing this trip with James but decided to join some friends on the Wharf Cat for a 12 hr trip that promised some AJ action. We were not disappointed.

Reminds me of the last corpus fishing,com trip. I believe Eric Blacka organized-great trip good time, good fish, exceptional ceviche and really nice folks

Yes it was, the majority of the "full to capacity" we're jammed up
On the stern and starboard (shadows, then) side. Also, these anglers pictured understood how to utilize headboat rail space best. Like-minded anglers, fishing a crowded headboat for a gimme fish like snapper should group together to lock up a solid length of deck , then take turns fishing, effectively making their area feel like it's 1/2 capacity. If possible this should be done on the most upcurrent end of the vessel. Reduces tangles tenfold, and. Slows your people down enough to a actually enjoy Derby harvesting.

It was a pleasure to have yall aboard on my second favorite day of the year.
