|
|
| Thinking of beating the heat by doing overnights on the Port A jetties (north most likely). I may soak some live baits, but primarily want to throw lures. Curious if I should be throwing the same plastic and topwaters as I would during daylight hours for trout or change it up (dark colors, louder/larger baits, etc)? Any advice would be most appreciated. |

You can throw glow lures, otherwise, the most visible night color is blue.

| I mostly use flukes, paddle tails, and rattle traps. Color, change up until you find the one they want. |

Frederick Dunphey, since you are the jetty master I will ask for any other tips you may have. In the past, I had most of my success in the shallow surf at first light and moving deeper as the morning warmed up. I have a hunch that I should be starting deeper and working my way in? |

Incoming tide I start at break and work back to beach. Outgoing I prefer channel but will fish surf deeper than normal past the break. |

we always threw a 52MNS Mirrolure. I think L & S calls this one the night stalker. It's Black.

ST, was that an older slow-sinking model? I feel like it may have been replaced my another model. What did you tend to catch?

I quit fishing Packery because of the unwashed mass of not quite humanity there, but I used to catch snook and trout and reds on Steel Shad after dark.

I found Steel Shad, but looks like it is a fresh water bait used up north for walleye and pike. Is that what you are speaking of or is that a color? |

It's just a black MirroLure. That was our favorite for the North Jetty at night. Caught Trout, Snook and from time to time snapper.

| I have used a black marks-o-lot a many of time on mirror lures. Let your imagination rule to you find the right combination. Could be black bottom, black top or go all,out black. And it was typically on 52 m series. Enjoy! ..............cC |

Tackle Town carries Steel Shad.
A metal vibe bait.
In little 2 inch ones all the way up to the ones we use for kingfish.
All flash and vibration.
Not sure if fish love them or hate them, but they sure take out their aggression on them!
