Sure has been a long while since posting on here. The last account was 'lil-red-hunter14' and was clearly from the 14 year old days. Now my life as a salesman up here in Austin keeps me from making it down as often as I'd like so I watch the reports from afar.
I'm finally making it down (10/13-10/17) with the lady to get some R&R. I've been monitoring this cold front that will push through while we are there. Looks like it'll drop temps about 20 degrees to around 65 for a high at the beginning of the week. Any thoughts on what the fish may do? I've been hoping it sends every red into a frenzy! Also hoping to find some sheepies or mangroves around the rocks! |

Busting out the sweaters and the cardigans. Like everybody else!
Seriously, welcome back. It has been some time since I've seen you on the board. |

It has been quite a while! I came down a few years ago when the exact same weather situation happened and I caught more species of fish in one trip than I ever have. |

I agree 65 degrees is just enough to put more oxygen in the water and make the fish more aggressive. Below 50 will send them into holes.
I have breathable (not insulated) weather shell - top and bottom - will start the morning wearing them out, and peel to my board shorts or light nylon pants when the day warms. |

| Can't wait for the cold front. I'm thinking that the drop in temperature should turn on the Fish on both in the Laguna and in the surf. 65 and wearing waders! What South Texas weenies. 65 in New Mexico is run around naked time.lol |

I was in Minnesota in June and it would drop into the 50s at night sometimes. People wearing shorts like nothing. But then, they thought 87 was a 'hot day'. The other Texan and I about died laughing.
Then there was the other time I went to Michigan in July and they were splashing around in the lake having a good ol' time like we all do here in the surf. Sign at the front of the park read water temp was 54! I stuck my feet in to confirm it wasn't an error...It wasn't! No, thank you. _________________ All things will pass. Have a Blessed day. |

The predictions show the surf up through mid week. Next weekend is also Sharkathon so keep that in mind. It's kinda like opening weekend of dove season, expect bad weather. But the following week will be near perfect. _________________ Great captains, the stuff of legend, are made not by what they have caught, but by what they have given back. |

Any other suggestions considering the rain and wind on the way?
I, too, have picked this week to venture down from up north. Staying on the island.
Thanks. |
