...and the jacks are here waiting to fight!

I didn't have a chance to pick up ribbonfish, but lures worked nicely to bring eight big jacks aboard the kayak. I loaded four into the hatches, and took them to Roy's for shark baits. With the choppy sloppy conditions I didn't want to overload the boat and create difficulty in the surf. Four fish worked great and earned me a little store credit to buy more tackle.

How far offshore are you?
How far do you normally go?
I have been out to the 3rd bar and maybe the 4th on very low tide and smooth days and caught blue runners before, only a few small Jacks. I am looking forward to doing somethings similar this summer, hoping to get a kayak in the next 2 weeks or so. I also love going to Roys....

I usually paddle to the visible rigs off the beach. There are several areas that have rigs within 3 miles of the beach. Just be sure to research what you need to take (the TKF section called BTB is a good place to ask), don't go alone at first, and keep a keen eye on the weather so you don't get caught beyond the surf when it turns ugly.

And I agree, Roy's is the best fishing and kayak shop in town!
