Howdy folks. I'd love to complain and pop off all day at the jaw about the lack of pompano around here but I won't.
Joe aka Saltyhook is stranded down Island in his First Gen Cummins with truck camper. We're leaving now to go get him and haul him to the blacktop, but we're looking for any advice of a shop or mechanic that you might recommend to figure out what's causing his 12 valve Cummins to not start and run. I'm just not a diesel guy, and not much help for him.
It's Sunday, so just any recommendations for this upcoming week that we might be able to use.
Thank ya'll in advance, and for the love of all things, someone please go decimate a school of pomps SOMEWHERE. I'm back to the tug Monday, no pomps there.
Thank ya'll again.
Colin

| I am absolutely no help but I'll say good luck and thanks for helping him! I don't know him but saw that rig my last trip down. Hope it's a easy tow. |

Get with Robert over at Sinister LLC, located on Cline street in the Bluff, he is very good with the 5.9 Cummins.

Thankyou brother!
Saltyhook is good to go now. This go round was an electrical issue with a wire that came loose. He fixed it himself before we got there, and I'm darn glad for him. But I know once he gets off the sand in a few days he'll be glad to take down this number. Sounds like the pomps just showed up! _________________ Protect Padre at all costs for future generations to use and enjoy and never forget our freedoms aren't free.

Yes, Mr. Hester at Sinister off-road is a great mechanic. Very honest! _________________ Career and Technology Teacher, because all individuals should have a career path other than a four year education. |

Coastal Diesel Injection. Dealership squandered around for weeks (literally) doing unnecessary stuff. I got fed up and had it towed to Coastal. They figured it out (leaking intercooler) in an hour or two of labor. That's my only experience with them, but it was a good one. _________________

OK here is an idea to kick around.
First of all Towboat Trash gets an attaboy for Good Samaritan here.
My thought is Tyler develope a decal to apply to tail light lense of members vehicles that would indicate the driver is a registered member of this site
When said decal is spotted fellow member could render aid or extend courtesy as appropriate.
A fee for said decal would be appropriate.
I base this idea on the following. I am a Shriner and I have a decal on my vehicle that brother Shriners can identify.
Now, more senior members or Tyler??? |

I'm always down to help someone when I'm down the beach and have on multiple occasions. I just hope that the day I need it someone would be there to help me. I think the sticker is a great idea. _________________ Great captains, the stuff of legend, are made not by what they have caught, but by what they have given back. |

A huge Texas seize thanks to all the folks that assisted me in my hour of need . Hit the sand late on Sat-the 23rd. Sunday decided to move the truck closer to the water, it would crank but not start. It was one of those reel -Oh - No moments! I travel as well prepared as I can -tools etc, even have the complete 1991 Dodge 20pound Service Manual and I am a fairly good mechanic at least on the old gas fueled motors, but I am new to the Diesel . After studying the problem for about an hour I decided I better try to get some help and Colin is the only one I personally know and his truck is big enough to tow my beast off the beach . So I stopped the next north bound vehicle and asked them to make a phone call for me when they reached service. That fisherman was Mark Day from S. A. - Thanks Mark ! So I start tinkering again, got lucky and found a electrical spade with a loose connection, tighten it up and the beast fires right up ! Ya-Hoo ! So wave down the next north down vehicle to make another phone call for me to tell Colin all good . Did not get a name from those young -Kind fishermen but a big thanks too you as well ! Colin received the all well message, but being the good harted soul he is came on down the beach with his wife and daughter to ck on me anyway. That was the high lite of my 6 days on the beach, poor fishing a few Whitting and one 3ft Shark, just to much weed. The kind fellowship was the big catch of the day on this trip. Thank's again fishing brothers . _________________ Fishing is not a matter of life or death it is much more important then that !
