Went on fishing trip last week to the Chandeleur Islands in the G.O.M., 40 miles south of Biloxi,Ms. It was supposed to be three days of fishing but a woolybooger front hit the second night so we came back the third day. We already had a LOT of fish. The first and second days were perfect weather, cool mornings, light winds, calm water. The trout bite was ON, mostly good solid fish probably averaging 18", a lot of 20"+, and a few smaller. And the red bite wasn't far behind with most the fish good slot 24"-27", and several bulls caught. I also got a doormat flounder and a couple of smacks. We also had a couple of encounters with the gray suit guys. My bud was hooked up with a bull when a large shark took up pursuit. He said "This isn't going to end well" before CHOMP. Well, he got half a fish anyway. I was wading a grass line next to a drop off, about waist deep, couple trout on the stringer, hooked another, had him about 30' away when I saw a big swirl wake by the fish. 'Uh Oh', reeling furiously, fish right in front of me, reaching for my net, CHOMP. A large shark(6'+?) grabbed the trout and ZEEEEEE my drag was screaming. Fortunately he cut the leader. The whole trip was an quite an enjoyable adventure.

Looks like an awesome trip. Bringing in a half of a red fish would be awfully scary

That sure looks like a lot of fun. I'm going on a trip in June on the VI which is supposed to be a nice mother ship I have been told. What an awesome trip you guys had! Making me get itchy for my trip already. What outfitter did you go with?

We were on the VI(six). Good choice, the crew really worked hard for us, boat is roomy, and rode well on the choppy ride in.

Hey Omar, wassup? Been beatn' up on the fishes? Yup, have to say was a bit better trip than last one. Weather was better(two days of it anyway), fishing was better, and boat was mucho better. Think BF is going to put another one together for next year if you're interested. Stay in touch amigo. D[img][/img]

Wow, that boat is huge compared to last year! Yes sir, I talked to Bob yesterday and told him to count me in for next year. Just got my boat going again and caught a few trout and couple reds on Sunday. Still working some kinks out in the motor though.
