wow.....6 park rangers have arrested 59 people (so far this year) and the entire ~250 CCPD has only arrested 692 people for DUI....so 9.8 vs. 2.77
means you are 3.5 times more likely to get arrested on PINS for DWI than the entire rest of Corpus Christi.....
what's going on out there?

every two years....my sources tell me that there's a new crop of rangers on the Seashore...and that this batch is really gung-ho....

I'll tell ya whats going on out there -- people are drinking, duh lol. I know myself, and when I lived down there I was 3.5 times more likely to be drinking a beer at the beach than I was at any other random place I was at during a random time around town. Law enforcement knows it. Do those numbers really shock you, Becky, or were you being facetious? _________________ ...if my boss ever finds this forum I'll be unemployed... |

Don't get me wrong, dwi is an issue down on the beach. Having friends that are cops and even in federal law enforcement, they see stuff on a regular basis that we don't. They have to use their judgement on when to arrest you of they think the driver may not be fit to safely drive. If they let the driver go and something happens it can come back on them hard.. either guilt or their job. So typically they let the court decide. Which sucks.
And I was monitoring how much I drank and the time span as well. Air freshener and breath mints or something I would have probably not even given a field sobriety.
Fyi. The straight line test, heal to toe and a series of small steps to turn around.... follow instructions correctly.
Any variation from their instructions is a ding. All they need is 2 failures of normally 3 test and they can put you into custody.
Federal law is different while on federal property. Ie no refusal of breath alyzer. When in court they then must follow local laws for conviction on motor vehicle violations.
Granted the CFR code for operation of motor vehicles also has some funky verbiage. And field breath analyzers have been deemed inadmissible in court unless they meet required certifications of equipment and person performing test. Not going too get into details on that so I don't provide incorrect info. _________________ Fish and Hunt Baby.... so tight lines and clear scopes. |

| I had a couple of guys riding my a** one time. I saw them coming from way back, so I could tell they were pushing it, but I'm doing the speed limit cuz I know what's likely ahead. I get to a wide place and slide over, and these guys barrel past me. I guess they didn't see the ranger a couple hundred yards down the beach. He lit em up and flagged both trucks over. He also gave me the evil eye when I went by, but I was at speed limit and legal. I guess he was suspicious or something, or just being an a**hole, but he didn't flag me over. It was around 9 a.m. It's probably not right to think so, but I felt like there was a bit of justice meated out that day. As far as having a couple on the beach, who cares. Two or three beers on the beach is not going to make somebody drunk. Stupid crap. |
