Friends of mine,Bob and Linda, asked me if they can keep their boat here at my house so they don't have to trailer it to fish. Being that mine's in the shop I said no problem. They also said I couldn't take it out anytime I wanted to. Great friends, very trusting. They told me they were going to pick it up probably this afternoon so they can clean it up and put it back in storage so after breakfast I went got some gas put it in it and hit the water one last time. Went to my two minute honey hole and one drift I got four keeper trout and a 25-inch red. Went back around picked up another three trout and all told probably another 25 or so undersized fish. Came back in by noon and did work around the house. Got a text from Bob about 3 o'clock saying that they weren't going to pick it up until tomorrow, So I grab my gear and went out for another "last" time. Got another twenty or so trout with four of those being keeper's .this time they were all catch and release.
Got the fish on just about anything I threw, from Top Waters , soft plastics in various colors from pink, white, purple, tequila, and chartreuse. Bite was very soft and subtle even the red did not hit very hard.
While cleaning the fish on my dock, as usual, the seagulls came in for a free meal. What was really cool was that an egret came down and landed right next to me wanting food so it didn't have to fight the gulls. I fed it so much it got to the point where he would just look at the fish and then turn away. It was funny.
When I cleaned the red its stomach contents was interesting. It had shrimp, crabs, mullet and a 4" new penny gulp. And it still was hungry enough to hit my sand eel. |

Great post. I fish the Rockport/aransas area but always follow what you're using and doing. I'm nowhere near as proficient as you are but working at it.
I tried the tequila golds Saturday with no luck. Did catch a couple rat reds on silver spoons near the lighthouse shoreline. Ran out of daylight though. |

| I thought that was you Tom, I didn't recognize the boat but the fisherman looked familiar. The wife and I were just heading home from our usual Sunday boat ride to take the dogs for a swim. I did a couple of drifts beside the channel on the way in, picked up 2 shorts and quit. Seems you did a lot better, congrats. |
