I know alot of folks have a cooler like this. If you are tired of the lid coming off everytime you use then check this out. I came up with a simple fix months ago and it works perfectly and its simple and adjustable.

All you have to do is use a # 8 or a 10 pan head screw. I have one on each side. All you need is one until it gets loose again. Once the screw is in just pop the lid back on using the palm of your hand.

no need to throw it away.

Nice job IMS. With respect to the hinges, i got this old leather belt that shrunk a few inches as I aged Embarassed and as a result no longer fits. It makes great hinges - just cut off three inches or so and screw the piece on to a fresh location on the lid/cooler.

For hinges, I use 2 or 3 inch nylon cargo straps, cut in sections, and screwed like the belt section above. Oughtta be some of that stuff being excessed and laying around the Naval Air Station.

This fix is pretty much for this type cooler. It doesn't need straps for a fix. When my hinges break on my regular coolers we will work on that😁.

The owner of the house we bought left one needing the repair you did, and I wish I had seen your fix sooner. But I fixed it with 2 of those 6 inch long drywall screws.

for hinges, take a coke bottle and cut out the flat center section of plastic, trace the hinge on the plastic and cut out. Mount that piece behind the original hinge and enjoy. No more broken hinges.
