| It is a brown Fenwick rod with mildrum roller guides. I think the model #is Fenwick 660, been a while though so I may be wrong. |

the fenwick 660 is an 80lb. blank, I know the rod in the movie was either a 130lb class rod or unlimited... _________________ "I never had an Easter, but I've always had a bunch of speakers" - Beardo |

WE Have a winner - Fenwick Rod. Wow you guys are fast, & more observant then I had expected.
Heres another one for you. Which local fisherman (on Padre) was one of those sailors in the water fighting off sharks with Capt Quint when the ship Indianapolis was sunk ?

My guess would have been Ralph Wade, Bless His Soul, although I don't think Capt. Quint was the C.O. of Indianapolis.!!! _________________ Gary J

Yes indeed, the beloved, recently departed Ralph Wade was on the ship (Indianapolis) that delivered the A bomb to the "Enola Gay" that bombed Hiroshima. You are correct Capt Quint was not the capt of the "Indy" he was just the Capt. character in the Jaws movie, telling the story of fighting off the sharks for 3 days!
If I recall correctly Ralph was on 3 different ships that were sunk, starting with the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Beyond being a surviving veteran, he was one of the best fisherman I have ever known. In one of the photos I posted earlier with a big mess of Lg. Trout all caught with in couple hours in a little hole so close up to the bank that you could have used a cane poll to reach them with, seriously, how he knew or could spot a hole like that was uncanny & beautiful.
I have a few more old photos around here of Ralph if I can dig them up I wll post with "Rebecca's help again on the photos.
