I'm interested in a post in the Laguna Madre Fishing Report on 1/14 that states; "you can keep the larger ones due to a mixup in the Regs book." What the heck are they talking about. The book I have shows, 20" w/no max for freshwater and 20" to 28" for Saltwater. What gives??

Does not make sense to me, either.

The fresh water reg is for places like Lake Calaveras. Freshwater bodies that have redfish stocked in them.

He is referring to the upper slot limit for black drum. In the latest version of the TPW code the upper slot for black drum was (presumably) inadvertently omitted from the recreational regulations. Technically there is currently no upper slot on (recreational) black drum, though I haven't heard of it being tested with a warden.

(F) Drum, black.
(i) Daily bag limit: 5.
(ii) Minimum length limit: 14 inches.
(iii) No maximum length limit.
(iv) One black drum over 52 inches may be retained per day as part of the five-fish bag limit.
