If you haven't already voted regarding the Texas Constitutional Amendments, do so today. We need to codify our right for the outdoor sports for the generations to come.
Proposition 6
"The constitutional amendment recognizing the right of the people to hunt, fish, and harvest wildlife subject to laws that promote wildlife conservation." |

So now we're subjects? |

Final Vote Count
1,258,397 For
294,567 Against (these are the ones of concern)
The actual Constitution Amendment is:
Sec. 34.
(a) The people have the right to hunt, fish, and harvest wildlife, including by the use of traditional methods, subject to laws or regulations to conserve and manage wildlife and preserve the future of hunting and fishing.
(b) Hunting and fishing are preferred methods of managing and controlling wildlife.
(c) This section does not affect any provision of law relating to trespass, property rights, or eminent domain.
(d) This section does not affect the power of the legislature to authorize a municipality to regulate the discharge of a weapon in a populated area in the interest of public safety.
Nothing new here, by putting this in the constitution it just makes it much for difficult for activists to take away our rights and liberties. |

| So, if hunting and fishing are now a right, we no longer need a fishing or hunting license? A license is permission given by a competent authority, for an individual to do something otherwise prohibited and a right is something that cannot be restricted. Just wondering about this, as I think the wording of this amendment could be an issue down the road if someone were to challenge the necessity of a license to do something that is a right. For example, do you have your license for your right to free speech on you? |

Good thought magadorm.
Now we need our lawyers on the forum to speak up on this.
This would be an interesting discussion. _________________

Those restrictions though are in place to maintain other's rights, or at least that is what is used to restrict someone else's rights. For example, you do not have the right to go into private property with a gun without the property owner's permission. This amendment has that in the writing that you cannot practice this right on someone else's property without their consent. It also adresses issues regarding firing guns inside city limits as well. |

If we're going to get into a political debate in a fishing forum let's first define a "right".
BEUHLER?! BUEHLER!? ANYONE!? |

One also has to be permitted and pay a fee in order to exercise those "rights" to bear arms in certain situations. Kinda like a license. |
