| What inexpensive piece of fishing equipment has surprised you? Like a 30 dollar rod or reel or non name brand lure etc. |

| A small bottle of CorrosionX which I use with a small brush. I bought it over ten years ago and still have most of it left. I wish I could say the same about the spray cans of it I have bought! Otherwise, I consider the Johnson Sprite gold spoons pretty cheap when I think about how many reds I catch on one of them, and how long they last with diligent care. |

| $59 Cabela's Salt Striker surf spinning reel. Caught everything from hardheads to 60# cobia on it. Only thing I ever do to care for it is wipe it off and spray it with corrosion x. Still have it after 6 years of surf use and it's still cranking in fish. OR WILL WHEN RED TIDE DISSIPATES. |

| I think a super underrated spinning reel is the Penn Pursuit series. You can find them used pretty cheap and new are only around 50 depending on model size. They put out decent drag and all but they have taken a beating in the surf and kayaks and are doing awesome still. |

well in 1967 we thought a tri-hull 120hp 4cyl I/O was pretty trick...
anyways, what-ever rods and reels we had and hooties in the Aransas Channel was THE ticket for Spanish Makeral...
we filled that 16ftr...
a few even jumped into it.
I was 10 and that is probably still one of the best fishing trips I've ever been on...
of course time embellishes...
we still talk about that day. _________________ the creepy uncle that scares the kids.... |

Anybody remember this reel? The Garcia-Mitchell 300

I bought one around 1972. I was still fishing with it into the 90's just keeping it cleaned and lubed. By todays standards, it was not that smooth, but the darn thing was practically indestructible. |
