Didn't go out Saturday but took my stepdaughter out today. After she finally got over her effects of partying last night while down here visiting from San Antonio. We finally hit the water about 11:30 after her breakfast. wound up with three keeper trout and a 26 inch red fish all on artificials |

Went out late yesterday afternoon just to run the boat mainly, made 2 short drifts, 1 north of the causeway and 1 south. Picked up a 28 3/4" red on a gold spoon. After a couple of pictures, back to the water she went.

| I'll also add in that the water in the flats north of the causeway around the highlines (south of deadmans) was the most beautiful water I have ever seen in the Laguna. There also was absolutely no sign of life LoL, no bait, no mullet, nothing.. It was crazy to not see anything over there at all, I was extremely surprised. |

Took a long wade along Rocky Slough this morning with croakers. Beautiful water, but no fish..... Went down into the landcut and there was nothing there either. The water wasn't moving. It looked like people were going way down into the cut to fish.
Finished off at my favorite rocks in the Badlands and landed three good trout and a 26 inch red. We had a couple of Pilgrims on the boat that managed to shake off two nice trout before we could get them to the net. Overall, it was a slow day for the number of hooks in the water.... |

| Waded my usual spot. Eleven anglers in the water when I got there. Black drum where thick. Throwing lures but still managed drum, rat reds, flounder, and trout. Not bad considering the crowd and the dolfins. |

Ice cream conditions Sat morn running south. Found trout on a grass flat to 21. Buddy was getting consistent bites on top but couldn't get 'em on the stringer. I went with a Sea Shad to bring home the bacon. It was over by 9:00. Messed around mid-day until we went to one of my old campgrounds, mud with some grass about knee deep. Talking about redfish city. So many sight casting shots it was unbelievable. Average size was 18. Landed two before my buddy even got out of the boat, then he produces not a red but a thick 19 inch trout. This went on till my buddy's knee told him not to wade anymore. Hit Nighthawk on the way home and picked up some fish off a spoil. Did not encountered any bad boating behavior, in fact guys were giving wide births and everyone was waiving and happy. Looks like my next window for fishing won't be till late August. _________________ kick your shoes off and cast a line |
