Late start, 9AM, on sand--moved N towards BHP 3 times--could NOT lose a dead shrimp!!--(1) bump?
Tide was slack/low--did not move in while I was there. Water clarity was gin clear-no bait-no birds. 1' surf at most--really laid down. Maybe a good day to be offshore??
Light wind--maybe still from East--(wind out of East-you, catch the least!!)

Wow.....and the water looks so tempting to head out. Anyone know what might be the case? The water is going to be the same tomorrow I would hate for anyone to head out expecting something that will not be there. Do bait fish prefer off color water or the waves? _________________ The Hardhead Whisperer |

Was pit in the same general area SBH yesterday. No birds, a few scattered mullet.
We kept about 40 whiting for a fish fry tomorrow. Fresh dead shrimp and fishbites on a 1/0 Circle Hook. |

| had the same result at Mustang island. Could not lose a shrimp either. Went to the jetty and there werr trout everywhere. 6 of us threw everything we had including live shrimp. they wouldn't take anything. Finally resorted to dead cut mullet at the end of the jetty and limited out on reds. |

1/2 way to the bowl. Fished with the same piece of fresh dead shrimp for over an hour!!!!! Who knew it could be TOO flat.
Threw numerous topwaters, hung shrimp below a rattle float, threw diamond jigs, even resorted to a double-drop tourist leader, and still came home with a load of fresh dead shrimp! MAN, what a poor morning.
But not an official skunk, as I landed a speckled surf crab (released) and I saw a sheepshead swim by (in the gin clear water of the wade gut). Some mullet, but nearly zero birds working. Who would have thunk it????? |

High pressure; here at the house (Bluff) my weather meter is reading 30.05".
When the pressure starts dropping Sunday, the bite should turn on big time!! _________________ You have 2 choices in life: The right one or the easy one. |

Zia, I may have spoken to you out there today. I could not believe all the trout in the water literally just sitting there staring back at us and being finicky. Day before yesterday, nada, yesterday we got limits on those suckers, then today back to nada. Just too slack and clear today I reckon. |

I had a first today as well to avoid a complete skunking. I caught a medium size whiting on a silver 1/2 oz Johnson Sprite. |

Pretty sure I met you guys out there yesterday too. I was out there with a fly rod. Threw every fly I had at those suckers. Nada not even a slight interest. I was in the way too dirty maroon ram 1500. _________________ It's not the destination, the journey is everything. |
