|
|
Did a solo trip and tried some new numbers looking for snapper and found another honey hole. Caught over 30 snapper over 18 inches and 4 over 25 biggest being 28". The conditions where a little rough at around 2.2 every 8sec. almost didn't make it through the calf high waves. It was pretty easy trip I headed out at 7:00 and had my limit by 8:30. Anyway here a few pics of the trip.

Did you find it by trial and error or by using your depth finder? _________________ HighTide

| I found the spot chasing bait balls getting attacked by fish. One bait ball had snapper on it so I marked it on GPS. So went into the area zoomed in on bottom and circled till I found structure. |

Wow. Culling out 4 sows from more than 30 fish, thats a lot of released snapper! Hope you had a venting tool!!
Way to put in your time, learn the waters, and reap the benefits. Great report. _________________ ...if my boss ever finds this forum I'll be unemployed... |

| I actually don't cull I always keep the first 4 keepers. The others are just having fun catching fish. Just happens the first 4 I kept where big. I actually released the 3 biggest snapper. I do have a venting tool but I'm fishing shallow enough that most fish don't need it. |

Wow, those 4 sows first? That is awesome. Apparently its also less of an issue fishing this time of year. The released fish are more resilient when there is not such a dramatic difference in temperature between the surface and the bottom. Thanks again for sharing, and enjoy the bounty! _________________ ...if my boss ever finds this forum I'll be unemployed... |
